Certified Forgotten Halloween Sale

If you've ever listened to the Certified Forgotten podcast, you know that one of the frequent topics of conversations with our guests is the fragmentation of the media landscape for film critics. It is important, now more than ever, to ensure that our only film publications aren't corporate-owned. And that's why we're running a special pledge drive for new members this October, to help you help us keep the landscape for horror criticism going strong.

Now through October 31, you can sign up for our Reader tier and get your first 30 days of Certified Forgotten for only one dollar. That means you'll get immediate access to over 300 reviews and essays on some of the most under-appreciation entries in modern horror. To sign up, click on the Subscribe button at the top of the page, or visit www.certifiedforgotten.com/products.

Need another reason to join Certified Forgotten? Here's three:

  • We are a writer-owned publication that focuses on underseen horror. We're modeled after since-dead websites like The Dissolve, which favored long-form essays on movies rather than news hits or cheap SEO hits (god help us, but the world does not need more ending explainers).
  • Every dollar we earn goes directly to our writers. Since our launch, the administrative expenses of running a publication have always been paid out of pocket by our cofounders, and every dollar we earn from subscriptions goes back into the pockets of our freelance writers.
  • We do not accept unpaid contributions. There are many writers out there who would love to write about horror for free, but we believe if you're good at something, you deserve to get paid for doing it. That is why we only open our pitches in select windows when we can ensure fair compensation for any new writers.

For our first-ever promotion, we have set an ambitious goal of registering 75 people for our one dollar promotion. That $75 will commission one extra piece of horror criticism, and even if every one of those subscribers cancel after their first month, it means one more article will exist because of readers like you.

And if you want to support us but cannot spare the funds, now would also be a great time to sign up for our newsletter at www.certifiedforgotten.com/newsletter. You'll get The Rewind, our weekly recap of horror and horror criticism, delivered to your inbox every Friday.

If you enjoyed this article, please share it on social media! Word of mouth is everything for independent publications likes ours.
