The Cycle Deborah Ann Woll

Shudder

Whether you've listened to one episode of Certified Forgotten or a hundred, you know that The Matts can rarely agree on what makes for a good horror movie. The exception to that rule? Filmmaker Jordan Downey, whose balance between less-is-more and more-is-more creates the perfect middle ground for Donato and Monagle. So with the release of The Cycle this weekend, Downey's latest horror feature, the hype train was fully out of the station.

When law enforcement agencies need a second look at a dead body, they work with Meg Garland (Deborah Ann Woll), a renowned forensic pathologist. Still, even Garland couldn’t prepare for her latest case: an investigation into the death of her estranged father. But the more she studies the body, the less sense the crime makes, until she finally begins to realize the dark truth behind her father’s disappearance.

In this excerpt from the episode, Matt Monagle explains why he was so excited to see The Cycle give a starring role to an actor he's always liked:

I never watched True Blood, so I don't know her from that. It was Escape Room, actually. It was the first time where I saw Deborah Ann Woll in something, and I was like, wow, she's really, really fucking good. And then it turns out that she is a professional dungeon master. She's a voice actor for a bunch of video games, including the God of War sequel that's coming out later this year.
