In 2019, Matt Donato and Matthew Monagle found themselves in a heated discussion about the relationship between horror and RottenTomatoes. With hundreds of horror films released each year, what happens to the movies that fail to earn attention from the ‘accredited’ RottenTomatoes sites? And what does it say about the industry that some mainstream horror sites have historically been left on the outside looking in?

The result of that conversation was the Certified Forgotten podcast. In the show, The Matts and a rotating group of industry guests tackle some of the best horror films to feature five or fewer RT reviews. This allows Certified Forgotten to focus exclusively on the movies that have fallen through the cracks, those festival standouts – and direct-to-video cult classics – that are deserving of a second look.

These films may be fresh, or they may be rotten, but they’ve all been Certified Forgotten.

Listen to new episodes of Certified Forgotten biweekly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, and other podcast platforms of your choice.
